Questions: Scenario Innovative Conference & Incentive Management (ICIM) is a company that organises conferences and incentives for corporate clients. They have over 300 corporate clients around Australia and employ up to 150 staff members, as well as contractors, who work onsite at conferences. You are employed as a database developer with ICIM. They need a new database system to manage their conferences including bookings/ registrations and attendance and you have been assigned the project. Part 1: Determine database requirements Task Review and analyse the information in the scenario. Based on your analysis, complete the following tasks and record the client requirements in a word-processed document. Determine the functional requirements, identifying all the business functions and reports that are required. Develop a conceptual model of the database to be reviewed with the client, using an appropriate structure, layout and language. Part 2: Design database structure Based on your client requirements document and the business rules, design the database structure by completing the following tasks. Record the outcomes in a word-processed document. Ensure that you use appropriate structure, layout and language for each task, such as industry-standard symbols. Task 1 Using an appropriate Data Modelling tool, develop an Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) that enforces the business rules and addresses the approved functional requirements identified in Parts 1 and 2. Ensure that your ERD indicates the following: All the entities necessary to implement the business rules and the functional requirements for the Events Management System The relationships between the entities, indicating their: connectivity cardinality Task 2 Develop a Relational Data Model (RDM), which is normalised to at least third normal form (3NF), indicating the following: Each table required, including: its name all attribute (or column) names its primary key its foreign key, indicating the referenced table any alternate key(s) the table may require or use. Task 3 Develop a Data Dictionary describing the following metadata for each table: The table name For each attribute: The attribute (column) names A description of its contents The data type The data format The validation rules The constraints (where relevant), including primary, foreign key and/or alternate keys, and field lengths The index(es) The table that any foreign key attribute references. Task 4 ICIM also wants to make sure that the server will have enough space to store the database. Calculate the estimated sizes of each table and the database for one year, including the size of the current database in the total database size. Include your calculations and/or a summary of how you determined the sizes.
